Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
